Miracle
Little moments that make life big

The scurrying of her tiny feet echoes through the hall.
Not now — I pray desperately.
Eyes closed, head lolling and milk trickling down her little chubby chin, slowly, as I unlatch her from my breast. My newborn is ready to be put down for a nap. But there she is my 22-month-old toddler — my eldest, dashing into the bedroom unabashedly.
Gleefully beaming, Stella’s eyes search for the newly arrived member of our family — a tiny baby on what seems like a vast sea of bed to her.
“Baby baaaby,” she cries ecstatically upon noticing Amelia and gently crawls towards her. Their eyes meet for a brief moment before Amelia abruptly breaks the contact. It’s a normal newborn thing, I learnt not too long ago.
Eyes filled with awe, love and admiration, Stella continues to gaze upon her. Just the way she had when she first met her after birth. Albeit now, I could see those feelings deepening within her.
She then places herself next to her little sister and embraces a few profound moments of silence, followed by suddenly clapping her hands and squealing in exuberant joy.
She glances at me, vividly expressing, “Is this magic, Mom?”
“Yep… it’s a miracle, my love!” I mutter under my breath. Stella chuckles as any two-year-old would. Then, gently moving closer towards Amelia, softly, she plants a soft kiss on her chubby, rosy cheek.
“A miracle indeed!” I smile to myself.
I wrote this little piece a few weeks after I had my second child to capture this heartfelt moment I experienced and etch them in words forever.
Today, my younger daughter will turn 3 in spring, and my older one will be 5 in summer.
My heart is filled with gratitude as I watch their bond strengthen over the last years and I feel truly blessed to have this precious experience of watching my girls become best friends whilst growing up together.
P.S. I have changed the names of my daughters to protect (and respect) their privacy.

I'm super bias but I enjoy all stories that center around our lil ones.
beautiful girls. Precious time.
